Welcome to the Irish Medical Society |
IRISH MEDICAL SOCIETY
Dear Doctor,
The Irish Medical Society of Great Britian was created to provide a focus for Irish doctors and graduates working in the UK. We have an Annual Ball in November: there have been two successful balls in 2006 and 2007 and the next ball is booked for Claridges on Saturday, 15th November 2008.
The idea of an Irish Medical Society is not new: the London Irish Medical and Dental Golfing Society celebrates 80 years playing golf this year and LIDS is a Chelsea based group that meets 3 - 4 times a year. There is a very active Irish medical society in Yorkshire and the the various colleges hold alumni meetings on a fairly regular basis, mainly in London.
The aims of the society do not just include the purpose of providing a support and social network for Irish doctors practicing in Great Britain, but also to raise money for charities with and Anglo Irish medical theme. I am delighted that, in our first year we were able to donate £4000 to charity, donating £9000 in 2007. We will build on this success for 2008.
If you would like to join our mailing list simply submit your e-mail address using the form on the right or click on the Join the Irish Medical Society link and send a blank e-mail; you will then be included in future mailings, informing you about upcoming events. I look forward to seeing everyone later this year.
With best wishes,
Kevin Harrington
